Treating Itchy Back Acne
If you have itchy back acne, also known as
bacne, you know the discomfort and irritation that
comes with this acne skin condition. Acne can form in a
number of places, including the back. This
form of acne is also called bacne and can affect people
of any age, gender or race. It is, however, more
prevalent in males than in females.
Back acne can develop from over-induced
sweat glands. Sweat itself is a waste product of the body
that may contain dirt, toxins and oils. This bacteria
forming mixture can aggravate the your acne condition
appearing on the back.
A condition of persistant back acne can often be
traced back to hereditary factors. Unfortunately,
back acne is much more difficult to cure than those
acne appearing on the face. The primary
cause of this is because the skin is tougher in this
layer of skin requiring a more robust
treatment. Mild cleansers which contain salicylic
acid and benzoyl peroxide can be used in mild or
occasional back acne outbreaks. An effective
treatment designed especially for body and back acne
is ZENMED's
Body Acne Combo. It uses botanicals and natural
ingredients, rather than the harsher chemicals found in many
other treatments that end up just irritating the affected
skin.
Like almost every other form of acne, back acne
is caused by over-productive sebaceous glands. These
glands start to function in high gear during puberty
and produce an oily substance called
sebum. With the sebaceous glands continually
producing sebum, and secreting it through the
skin's pores, it eventually clogs the
pores.
Bacnes, as they're called, are located on
the back, and in some cases, on the buttocks. In the more
severe back acne cases, the lesions are larger and more
painful. As is the case with acne, the root cause of
itchy back acne is not yet determined.
This skin disorder may be the outcome of
external irritants - like heavy backpacks or tight
clothing. On the other hand, back acne may also be due to
internal processes, such as, hormonal imbalance or
non-released toxins and body waste. It is basically the
product of an unhealthy or stressed body.
Food, in general, plays no significant part in
back acne outbreaks. No evidence has been found to link
back acne, oily foods and fatty diets. Excessive oil
production on the back does not trigger the formation, or
worsen, a bacne condition either. Even excessive sweating
is not found to irritate bacne, whether the sweat is
washed off immediately or not.
The good news is that, similar to most
other forms of acne, back acne is not contagious or
hereditary. In most cases, a sufferer's
children do not possess any predisposition to this
acne skin condition. In fact, people across the
globe are being affected by acne, so the odds that
the next generation of family members will be affect by
this skin disorder regardless of heredity.

Interestingly, stress doesn't have the same
effect on back acne as it does with other forms of the
skin condition. The connection to psychological
stresses is already confirmed in most cases of facial
acne. However, in the case of back acne no link has
been made.
Mild to moderate cases of back acne, or
bacne, can be treated with over-the-counter acne
medications, cleansers, and even homeopathic
treatments. One of the more popular back acne
treatments is ZENMED's
Body Acne Combo that uses botanicals and natural
ingredients, rather than the harsh chemicals found in many
other treatments.
If you are an individual who suffers
from the more severe forms of this condition,
including cystic back acne, a dermatologist should be
consulted to determine the best treatment approach for
your itchy back acne condition.
