Itchy Back Acne Treatment Options

Mild back acne afflictions are usually best treated by topical ointments. An effective treatment designed especially for body and back acne is ZENMED's Body Acne Combo. It uses botanicals and natural ingredients, rather than the harsher chemicals found in many other treatments that end up just irritating the affected skin.

Squeezing pimples is another form of physical treatment, but is ill-advised. It can lead to acne-causing bacteria to spread and may cause scarring. Physical procedures used in controlled conditions reduce risk while providing relief.

Mild to moderate cases of back acne, or bacne, can be treated with over-the-counter acne medications, cleansers, and even homeopathic treatments.  But with the more severe forms of this condition, including cystic back acne, a dermatologist should be consulted to determine the best treatment approach for your itchy back acne condition.  It will be your doctor who will determine whether the following acne treatments will be helpful in treating back acne.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is helpful for caring for the scars from acne. Laser therapy can be employed for both surface level scarring and deep tissue scarring caused by serious acne conditions. Research is now being dispensed on the use of lasers for acne routines. Various approaches are being examined - burning away the follical sac which produces the hair; burning away the gland which brings about sebum; and forming oxygen in the bacteria to obliterate them. The therapy is not yet known if laser acne procedures can lead to permanent damage to the skin.

Drainage

severe acne can periodically cause cysts to form under the skin. These cysts can be painful and disfiguring. Smaller cysts can be dealt with through cortisone injections which flatten out the lesion in the next few days. Larger cysts should be drained and surgically taken away. Drainage can help alleviate the pain associated using cysts and also minimize scarring. It is usually done in the dermatologists office applying sterile instruments. It is paramount that you do not to exercise to drain cysts by yourself because of the risk of infection which could result in unfortunate scarring.

Light Therapy

Light therapy is periodically utilized to fight the acnes bacteria that lead to acne. It is very useful in treating difficult areas but may have a short term result. The treatment unfortunately neglects the production of sebum or the layering of dead skin cells.
