Does Milk Cause Acne?

The debate rages on over does milk cause acne - does your diet cause acne - or are they both just innocent "victims"?  Can a skin care acne regimen offset these "culprits"?   Medical professionals and researchers have sought an answer to this elusive question for decades.  The encouraging news is that research is now starting to show that food, including milk, may not be the direct cause of acne or the related breakouts.

The catalyst may, in fact, be the chemicals released during the process of metabolism of certain foods. These particular chemicals may directly cause the onset of acne, may worsen an existing acne condition, or may trigger and acne outbreak.

Another recent finding suggests that acne may be triggered by the extra sebum production brought on by testosterone, a predominant male hormone.  Your ordinary store purchased meat and meat products contain hormones and hormone-like substances which may dramatically impact the body's hormonal balance.  This cannot be ruled out as a possible trigger for the acne condition.

Acne production can also be affected by hard-to-digest foods and may result in stress being put on the digestive processes of the body. As a result, an impeded digestive system may be another catalyst for all forms of skin disorders. This is why a good diet, and supportive skin care acne treatment program,  are very important to people infected with acne.  A good diet of plant based and fiber rich foods will help in the process of digestion and metabolism, and may even help clean the digestive tract.

Also, consumption of high levels of liquids, including water, should be incorporated into the diet.  Fluids produce a flushing effect and rid the body of unwanted waste and toxins.

In a sense, a healthy diet assists your body in keeping your skin healthy. Though there is no proven direct link between milk / diet and acne, a well-balanced diet will improve the body's immune system.  Remember - A strong immune system is key to reducing your odds of acquiring acne.  Or, if you already suffer from acne, a balanced diet will improve the effectiveness of your acne treatments or acne medications.

A nutritional diet combined with an effective acne treatment program can provide your best defense against acne outbreaks. If you are not already taking prescription acne medications, you may want to check out two of the most popular acne treatments available in today's market - the ZENMED® Derma Cleanse® System, a natural based acne treatment program, and Proactiv® Solution, which uses a scientifically developed combination of cleansers, toners and repairing lotions.  You can see how these treatment programs rate against other top treatments at Acne Product Reviews.

So, in answer to the acne question, " Does milk cause acne ?", researchers' results suggest the answer is NO.   So feel free to hoist a glass of your favorite milk and happily wear that white mustache "smile".   But don't forget to maintain your skin care acne treatment program - the rewards will  bring you a happier, glowing skin!
